The Mexicans are very friendly people. They are always willing to answer polite the weird & most stupid question tourists could ask. Mostly it is about things that are obvious for Mexicans. But as a voyager you should better ask ones more than be caught in a bad surprise.

Some people are even interested in you and they come up to you and start questioning. For instance the guy we had met in the Central Park at midnight and we continued to talk for 1,5 hours. It was a good chance to get to know a descendant of the Maya; how they live today and so one.

Except for the one in the Central Park, hardly anyone spoke English. Thus I had problems in understanding. Luckily my friend, she could speak Spanish good enough.

Ever heard of the colorful blanks? Well now you see some.

But not only blanks also other fabric for clothes have been colored or embroidered.

This is a view to the city of San Cristobal de la Casa. This town is 2100m above sea level. The weather is therefore not as worm and tropical as downwards. We have even worn long shirts and pants during day.

From San Cristobal we rode by horses (yes you heard right horses) to an Iindian village called San Juan Chamula. The inhabitants wear still today their traditional clothes and capes. Like you see on the pictures left and right. As you can see in the middle of the left photo Coca-Cola is even common here on this edge of the world.

I took plenty of photos in Chamula without aiming through the camera, cause people do not like to be pictured like monkeys in a zoo by millions of tourists.

Exactly on the day we arrived here a major festival has been celebrated with thousands of home-made firecrackers.

The food tasted delicious in Mexico (I had known Mexican food already from the US and I knew that I like it.) It is a great pity that we have hardly any Mexican restaurant in Germany. Fried tortillas (flat cake made of maize or wheat), which taste like potato chips are served prior to every meal in a good restaurant. Mostly you eat the tortillas with a salad mixed of onion, tomatoes and pepperoni.

A limnes is served with every bier. The yucatanics have a high variety of food. And Yucatan's food is not the same like Mexican.

Unfortunatly we could not afford a restaurant every day.
